Payslip distribution

When your payslip is available, you will be notified via email to access it within HR21 Self Service. Historical payslips from ESS will not be accessible in HR21. Please contact TAFE SA HR to request historical copies of your payslips, if required.

Only in exceptional circumstances will posted payslips still be provided. The examples stated below are subject to your Agencies existing processes:

  • When you do not currently have an email address;
  • When you are on long-term leave, such as Maternity Leave; or
  • When you have no access to the Internet from either work or home.

For employees without an email address, hard copy payslips will continue to be sent to postal addresses automatically.

If you have a requirement to receive a hard copy payslip, email Payroll Services.

Ensure the email contains your full name and employee number to assist with processing.

Payslip format

The format of both the electronic and hard copy payslips will change following the implementation of CHRIS 21. Select the links below to:

Employees with secondary bank disbursements set up from their pay will notice a change in the way the Net Pay value displays on their payslips. Empower displays the value of primary and secondary bank disbursements as a total sum in the Net Pay section, whereas CHRIS 21 displays the primary bank disbursement in the Net Pay section and the secondary bank disbursement as a deduction.

For example: an employee with $1000.00 going to the primary bank account and $200.00 going to the secondary bank account would display as Net $1200.00 in Empower, whereas CHRIS 21 will display Net $1000.00 with the $200.00 listed in the deduction section.

In periods where an employee doesn’t earn enough Net Pay in a fortnight to cover the entire amount of the secondary bank disbursement, CHRIS 21 will not allocate any funds to the secondary account. Instead the full net value will be paid to the employee’s primary account.

For example: an employee has allocated $1000.00 to be sent to a secondary bank account. They earn $800.00 Net in a fortnight, which is not enough to cover the secondary bank deduction. The full $800.00 is sent to the primary bank account, and $0.00 to the secondary bank account.

There is no disadvantage or monetary difference in the total amount paid to employees with secondary bank disbursements.

Payment summaries

Your payment summary will be accessible via HR21; however employees without an email address will continue to receive payment summaries via the post.

  • For the 2017/18 financial year you will receive two payment summaries; one from Empower and another from CHRIS 21. The Empower payment summary will be posted to your home address (for the period immediately prior to the transition date) and the CHRIS 21 payment summary will also be posted to your home address and be available within HR21 (covering the remaining period after transition).
  • Your 2018/19 financial year payment summary will be from CHRIS 21 and available online in HR21 next year.

Under Australian Tax Office Guidelines, should you elect to do so, you can receive a hard copy payment summary.

To continue receiving a hard copy payment summary, email your Shared Services SA Payroll team. Please ensure your email contains your full name and employee number to assist with processing.
